Midnight Oil

I once had someone tell me that my pieces are an example of how there is beauty in the gritty and the dirty. This piece, for me, exemplifies this taste for grit.

I filmed the scenes in this short piece a couple of years back and had them on my mental back burner for quite a while before I decided what I wanted to do with them. One night I sat down and started making music, not really sure of where I was going. Luckily, the musical piece I ended up creating fit the mood of the shots I had. From there, I started piecing everything together and added other elements to the sound design; like the whispers. This piece isn’t a narrative but I feel like the tone tells a story. There’s something about the dirtiness of the visuals that makes this compelling for me.
