This week I thought I’d continue with my images of the Roman Forum, because honestly, I just have so many! We did an all day tour and I still feel we could’ve seen more because there really is so much to see here. It was so incredible to just be in the presence of all the different buildings and structures, where so many famous and important figures so long ago once stood.
If you’re in Rome, it’s a given that everyone is going to recommend you see the Coliseum and the forum, which you should! And if you’re like me, doing a guided tour of everything is going to be ridiculously helpful. Let’s be honest, I don’t remember most of high school world history and I’m guessing you aren’t an expert, either. The tour groups will guide you throughout the ruins, giving you all the background and history you need. Even if you don’t plan something ahead of time, don’t worry, there will be PLENTY of tour guides hanging around outside the Coliseum, and they have groups in different languages, so it should be fairly easy to join one that fits your needs. Definitely allot plenty of time to do a tour, though, because ours started before noon and lasted until about 4pm.
Once you finish the tour you’ll be at the base of some steps that lead up to a garden; you’ll most likely be super exhausted, but go up the steps! From there I took the above photo, where you get a great panorama of the forum and some of Rome. It’s worth it for the view alone! Also, if you start the tour around the time we did, you’ll be up there close to sunset and have some incredible light 🙂
After seeing the ruins we grabbed some dinner at Birreria Peroni, which was delightful! It’s walking distance from the Coliseum and forum, so it’s perfect if your feet just won’t take you anywhere else.
Our last stop for the night was the Trevi Fountain, and I couldn’t have imagined it any better. There were a lot more people than I expected (considering the time), but the atmosphere was magical. In true Lizzie McGuire fashion, we threw some coins into the fountain and made our respective wishes. I’ll let you once the year is over if mine came true 😉

It’s funny you mention that, because when I look back through the images, sometimes I see amazing things I didn’t see when I was actually there! Sometimes there are so many other things going on with us that we miss things in our environment 🙂 I would definitely love to go back, as well!
