Beachside in Nuevo Vallarta

Today I’m dreaming of the beach. For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been getting over a cold + respiratory infection and being stuck indoors all day errday made me want nothing more than to be outside on a sunny beach. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll have a beach vacation for a while, so the nearby pool will have to do. 🙂

I took these photos the day that we landed in Puerto Vallarta. By the time we actually checked in and had everything sorted with the hotel, it was almost evening. Although I was a bit saddened by the fact that we lost a big part of the day, I was definitely not sad that we had the most gorgeous beach sunset. I mean, how beautiful is this?!

Since it was so late when we arrived, we opted to stay in at the hotel that night. Although I normally like to venture away from the hotel for dinner and nighttime plans, the hotel had a special beach party that night and we decided it was the best thing to do considering the time. Plus, it was open bar, and it’s pretty difficult to argue with that.

For about $26 per person, we got all-you-can-eat dinner and an all-you-can-drink bar. They even had a stage where they put on a show while you ate. It was at times cheesy and cliche, but I would be lying if I said it wasn’t fun.

A couple bottles of wine later and we were having a fantastic night; sand (literally) in between my toes, bottomless glass of wine in my hand, and a magnificent symphony of ocean waves and dance music.

That night, we made friends with another couple at our table and they raved about the hotel. They’re both retired and they come back every year for a week or two because it’s their favorite place to be. Calm, beautiful, clean.

I think the next time I’m in the Puerto Vallarta area, I’d love to explore other nearby towns or even stay closer to the city center. However, Villa del Palmar Flamingos was a good option for my parents and I, because they wanted something more relaxed and removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. Honestly, the beach area is beautiful and was never even close to crowded. The rooms are also equipped with mini-kitchens, so if you’re looking to stay longer and save money on food, it’s also a great option!
