Airbnb In the Malibu Canyon

For my girls trip to Malibu back in June, we stayed in an absolutely stunning airbnb up in the Malibu canyon. We booked the “zen room,” which came complete with very zen decor and a beautiful 180 degree view of the canyon. One entire side of our room was windows, which meant beautiful light and a beautiful view during the day! It was a perfect complement to doing other things in Malibu, since most people only get to see the beach.

It was, however, a bit tricky getting up there since GPS stops working and the hairpin turns are difficult to make with just about any vehicle. My friend Liz pulled through and got us there in one piece, though. Thanks Liz 😉

After arriving, we took a moment to breathe and relax after the grueling drive from Pasadena. LA traffic is the best!

The owner of the property is an interior designer and author that has lived in the area for years. You can tell she has really put time into designing and decorating the space, because it’s beautiful and puts you into zen mode the minute you step inside. We left the doors open while we drank a bottle of wine and got ready for dinner. Since the Malibu canyon area was a bit cooler than the city, having the doors and windows open felt fabulous. You can peruse photos or book the room here.

One last selfie as we left 🙂

If you’re visiting the Malibu area and want to stay a few nights, opt for something a bit different and stay in the canyon. People automatically want to stay on the beach (which is awesome, yes) but if you’re up for it then I whole-heartedly recommend going to a higher altitude. There are tons of airbnb‘s with spectacular views; some even higher up than ours with 180 degree views of the ocean! You’ll probably find a cheaper place in the canyon also, since beach properties are very in demand.

This particular airbnb was used for a magazine shoot with Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swift – not cheap, but maybe for a special occasion? One can dream. Below I’ve listed my favorite airbnb listings for unique places to stay in Malibu!

TOP 5 favorite Malibu airbnb properties:

  1. Malibu Chic Safari Tent: A safari-inspired tent with chic finishes and a real bathroom 😉
  2. Vintage Airstream: Retro and affordable but with a killer view!
  3. Oceanfront Malibu: If you really, really, want to be on the beach.
  4. Malibu Dream Airstream: Like I said, Karlie and Tay Tay were here. Doesn’t get much better than this!
  5. The Hermit: When nothing else fits the bill.

Hope you guys enjoyed!
